  1. Admin guide for dots, new allowance wording, Teams alpha

OpenAI's learn docs include an Enterprise admin guide for dots. The help center rewrote its first-month usage wording, and the admin guide says Teams access is an invite-only alpha.

We re-read OpenAI’s dots documentation on October 1 and updated our pages where it differed.

    • Enterprise admin steps exist. OpenAI’s learn docs include Manage dots permissions and capabilities. Admins turn on Use dots (Beta) in Workspace settings > Permissions & roles, and Slack, local computer access and custom rules each have their own permission. Enterprise model controls don’t apply to dots, local access is unavailable when a cloud policy enforces residency, and the Compliance API covers user messages and dots’ replies. Our admin page said OpenAI hadn’t published admin steps. We missed this guide on September 30 and don’t know when it went up.
    • First-month usage, reworded. The help center no longer says dots usage won’t count toward plan allowances for the next month. It now says your plan includes an allowance for deeper work, with extended limits for the first month after launch, which matches the learn docs. The release notes still carry the older sentence, so our pricing page shows both.
    • Teams is an invite-only alpha. The learn docs list Slack and Microsoft Teams as places to message your dot. The admin guide says Teams access is limited to an invite-only alpha.
    • A separate Slack account for your dot. The privacy FAQ now says you can give your dot its own Slack account, with its own identity and access. The help center still says you can’t give your dot a standalone email address at launch.
    • No change to who can get dots: Pro outside the EEA, Switzerland and the UK, Business Premium everywhere, and Enterprise as an admin-enabled beta. No Plus or Free access has been announced.

  2. Details from OpenAI's learn docs: Pro tiers, custom rules, local access

OpenAI's learn.chatgpt.com docs for dots confirm Pro 100, 200 and 500 are all eligible, give the desktop path for custom rules, and limit local access to one computer at a time.

We found OpenAI’s dedicated docs for dots on learn.chatgpt.com on September 30 and re-checked our pages against them. We don’t know the exact date each detail was first published.

    • All three Pro tiers are eligible: “Pro 100, Pro 200, and Pro 500.” Business Premium and Enterprise are described as rolling out worldwide.
    • Custom rules on desktop live under Settings > Personalization > Custom rules. The learn docs name one option “Take action when you say so”; the help center calls the same option “Take action if pre-approved.”
    • Local access is limited to one personal computer at a time, and that computer must be online with the ChatGPT app open.
    • The docs also include official, copyable example prompts. We’ve added them to our use-case library.

  3. OpenAI launches dots at DevDay 2026

Dots start rolling out to Pro (outside the EEA, Switzerland and the UK) and Business Premium users; Enterprise gets an admin-enabled beta. Dots usage won't count toward plan allowances for the next month.

    • Dots are always-on agents in ChatGPT, powered by GPT-6 Astra, each with its own cloud computer.
    • Rollout is gradual: Pro users in markets excluding the European Economic Area, Switzerland and the UK, and Business Premium users in all supported ChatGPT regions. Enterprise (including Edu and Healthcare) can try a beta once a workspace admin enables it; it is off by default.
    • Users must be 18 or older. Dots are created in the ChatGPT desktop app or on desktop web, then available in the mobile app.
    • Your first dot is included in Pro and Business Premium at no extra cost. For the next month, dots usage won’t count toward eligible plan allowances; OpenAI says it will share usage terms for each plan after that.
    • Texting is a limited beta for Pro users in the US. OpenAI also previewed specialist dots for organizations, starting with focused enterprise pilots.
    • Launch documentation includes a privacy, security and safety FAQ: you can’t yet view or delete individual dot memories (deleting your dot is the only way to clear its context), and the most sensitive actions, such as changing a password or transferring money, always come back to you.
